Update for August 26, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week! What a blessing our first week has been. I am so happy to be a part of this team.

Please make sure you turn in your first aid certificates and SAFER evaluations to Brittany.

We will have a visitation (10-12) and funeral at church on Monday. This will mean some changes to our routines:
  • 3K/4K will dismiss out the back
  • Student traffic should all go down the middle or south stairwells
  • Students will need to keep this in mind in the cafeteria and may need a few extra reminders about volume level (keeping in mind that it is a school cafeteria)
  • Cleaners will not show up until 1:15
Our Built on the Rock project continues to move forward. Demolition of the parsonage is scheduled for Tuesday. Official time TBD.

Here are a few pictures from the week.

Update for August 12, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!

We have been blessed with a continually growing enrollment throughout the summer, reaching 151 students on Friday. What a blessing to be able to share God's plan for salvation with our children and families.

Most curricular materials have now arrived. If you are missing anything, please make sure that Lisa knows so she can follow up with the vendor.

Our Parent Teacher Organization met on Monday to discuss items relevant to the school. The decision was made to move forward with the following fundraisers; Seroogy's Q1 (Aug - Oct), Kwik Trip Car Washes - Q2 (Oct - Dec), Cheesecake Fundraiser Q3 (Jan - Mar), Movie Theater Fundraiser Q4 (Mar - May).  Happy Joes will be a supplemental fundraiser set for September 29th. They also discussed changing our spirit wear vendor and support for the Back to School Breakfast and Grandparents Day. Members of the PTO may be reaching out to faculty with questions as we get closer to these events.

The Board of Christian Education met on Tuesday. St. Paul's involvement with the hot lunch program was discussed and at this time, we will remain in the federal hot lunch program. Minor changes to the School Handbook, mostly grammatical in nature were accepted. The Faculty Handbook and Early Childhood Handbooks were also discussed and the decision was made to review them and vote on acceptance in September. Our recent site assessment was discussed the BOCE passed a motion to move forward with the installation of an all in one system at our main entrance. Finally, tuition for first year students was discussed and the BOCE decided to keep in place the practice of allowing all first year mission students not in the Wisconsin Parental Choice program to pay tuition at the St. Paul family rate.

I attended the Built on the Rock meeting on Thursday. Finalization of financing and the playground move were discussed. The very real possibility of the playground not being accessible for a small period of time after school starts was shared. While we will try to limit this, it is likely that a few days of indoor recess will be required in late August or early September.

I met with Noemi from Spark on Friday. We walked the building and discussed the cleaning of classrooms and common spaces. I carried forward concerns shared by faculty about cleaning various areas and potential changes to the cleaning schedule for common spaces. I have a follow up meeting scheduled with her on Monday, August 22 to discuss what we discussed and what would be possible with the hours they currently have under contract.

Upcoming Dates
August 14 Church Picnic/Block Party
August 24 First day of school!
September 9 Family Game Night

Update for August 5, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!

School Security: I had a great meeting with Martin Security this week. Here are the highlights:
  • There is software that comes free with the unit we have installed. I will be working on getting more information on installation and use of that software. We should all be able to view the cameras from our computers, at least those of us who need to be able to do that.
  • There is a $25 part that can be installed to make a buzzing noise when the door is clicked to open.  I will be asking for that to be installed.
  • There is an $800 unit that can handle video, audio and door opening. It is portable (can be moved when new construction is complete) and can be operated from 3 computers simultaneously. I will be getting a quote for that item and installation and discussing a possible funding source with the BOCE.
Registration by the numbers: We had 9 Spanish speaking families sign up for registration on June 25. We had 58 English speaking families sign up for registration on August 3. With a handful of walk-ins  we are up to 126 students who have completed at least some registration paperwork. We do have 7 families that have not completed any registration paperwork at this time. Some of these families have contacted us about alternative arrangements and we will be reaching out to the rest of them next week.

Vacation: I will be out of the office from August 14 to August 21.

Upcoming Dates
August 8 Faculty (Teachers) meet in the AM
August 8 PTO Meeting
August 9 BOCE Meeting
August 10 First Aid and Safer for all Faculty, Aides and Office Staff
August 11 TTF Meeting
August 14 Church Picnic/Block Party
