Weekly Update for June 19, 2023

God's Blessings on your week!

All Staff
Significant progress this week with the BOTR project. I know it was hard to conceptualize the courtyard space before, but with the fill and all the "walls" in place, you can really see what it is starting to look like. We can provide input on this space and think about how we can use this space for our students. Do we want an education space, a quiet space? Your thoughts are appreciated. The possibilities are endless...

Here are some pictures of the courtyard at Mt. Olive in Appleton.

Additional BOTR Updates include:
Playground fix scheduled to start 6/19
Electrical switchover - 7/14

Melissa Koenig is moved in. A special thank you goes out to Rick Meves, Aaron Wellhoefer, Staff Minister Schaewe, and Pastor Flunker, who made the trip to Bemidji and back.

Faculty
For those planning field trips to FVL High School, you can access the 2023-2024 FVL School Events Calendar here. Thanks to Ashley for this link to the 1-page pdf.

The last 2 days of meeting with the School Leadership team have made it clear that we, as a staff, need to recalibrate and reset after Covid, our student growth, and the staffing changes we have encountered over the last 5 years. Please plan to join us on August 8 to complete this work. We will also add a 2-hour training for our staff on July 31 before the optional technology training.

Teacher Mailboxes have been rearranged to accommodate the staffing changes. Please double-check to make sure you are pulling from the correct box.

Please place all block plans in the appropriate folder.
At the June 12 PTO Meeting:
  • It was announced that Nate Hepner will be stepping in as chairman of the PTO

  • The School Handbook was approved
  • The Board of Education Policy Manual was approved
    • An Expulsion Policy was added
    • Language regarding Teacher Summer Vacation was removed so that we are in alignment with Church Policy
      • Church Policy - Teachers can take vacations whenever they are not required to be at school by either the Principal or the Board of Education. It is expected that the following be fulfilled during the summer months: a) lesson planning, b) parent visitations, c) in-service meetings, d) Bible study, e) faculty assignments, f) extras for the classroom.
