Weekly Update for August 26, 2024

Help me be persistent, bold, & trusting, Lord, as I pray to You. -  Matthew 15:21-31

Alice Brull told me today, “We don’t have to be afraid about anything because we have Jesus. What you are doing is effective. We know that God’s Word will not return to him empty (Isaiah 55:11).

All Staff

Weekly Update for August 19, 2024

Help me never to be ashamed of You, Jesus. Luke 9:18-27

All Staff

  • Self-assessments should be completed annually you can find a copy of your self-assessment here - https://data.wels.net/SelfAssessment/Form

  • I have received activity passes for any called worker for Luther Prep. If you want one, please come to my office.

  • After consulting with Lisa and Zandalee, I will be asking all teachers to complete the following daily:

    • Morning Check-In Sheets should be completed after you have taken attendance and completed the meal count. This does not need to be printed and will be inspected by the office and childcare staff to ensure end-of-day procedures are completed. These sheets will be reset for the following week at the end of each week.

    • Lunch Check-In Sheets may be completed before the end of the lunch period (12:40 PM). This replaces the paper sheets we have used in the past. A Chromebook will also be set up where the binder used to be. These sheets will be reset for the following week at the end of each week.

    • We will work to have both of these added to our bookmarks tab as well

  • Each month, a meal tracking sheet will be created based on information received from parents. Teachers and other staff may use it as a reference, but meal decisions should be made based on the real-time data received from students and parents on a specific day.

  • PowerSchool sections are set up, and most students are registered. We are still waiting for final registration information before fully enrolling some students, so your rosters may still need to be completed. We would like to have all this information in the system by the end of the day on Monday. You do not need to notify me if your roster needs to be completed in PowerSchool.

Weekly Update for August 5, 2024

Thank You, Lord  Jesus, for calling me blessed. Guide me as I live under Your blessing.  Luke 6:20-36

All Staff

  • I am just about caught up on emails. Please let me know if I have yet to get back to you in the last two days. I have had hundreds of emails to work through and may have accidentally archived yours.

  • Thank you for Aaron Wellhoefer. He removed the carpeting from the second floor. And under all the glue are good tiles. Now, we start the process of scraping. I started today and will work to continue it over the weekend. It may not be ready for registration, but we will have it ready for the school year.

  • Registration will occur on August 12 in the new ministry center this year.

  • Blinds in the new building have been ordered. The arrival time currently needs to be determined.

  • I'm sharing some of my favorite pictures from Alaska because I can. What a fantastic landscape God has created for us to enjoy.

Faculty

  • Window Door Curtains

    • I currently have Room 020 and Rooms 201-203 that need coverings for security in the windows.

  • Most of the work of PowerSchool sections is now complete. I will begin loading students into sections on August 15.

  • Grades 3K-2 can ignore this next part. One item I have thought long and hard about is our system for determining GPA. Next year, please consider moving to ESNU grading for non-core course grades. I have a couple of reasons for pursuing this; some are equity, and some are related to all the growth work we have been doing. The pastors and Peter will be moving to this scale for next year, and I would encourage you to consider doing the same. All our Religious courses (Christlight, Hymnology, Memory Treasures, Word of God) should move to the ESNU scale. Our journey with Jesus is constantly growing, and the ESNU better reflects this thinking and communicates engagement with parents. I also encourage you to move your other courses to the ESNU scale. The only courses I will insist we keep as A-F are Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies; these provide a foundation for our GPA calculations.

  • Please remember to update the Home Visits file. This has been a truly interesting data collection effort.
