SOAR

From Stephen - On Wednesday, November 1, PBIS will be in the classroom; please be thoughtful about how we can continue building community and a growth mindset in our learners with our activities. Activity names should be included in Lesson Plans.

From Rachel - If you need ideas or support during PBIS on November 1st, please ask Gretchen or me to help you plan and/or to join you in the classroom.

Church Council Items

• Long Range work continues

• Position Descriptions were highlighted in the long-range plan to have draft position descriptions for all positions currently without a description by December of 2023. Many positions currently do not have a formal description, and the Board of Christian Education has been asked to define these positions.

• Options for a kitchen stove continue to be discussed

• The facility use policy was discussed and continues to undergo transformation

• Meeting room windows were discussed and voted on

• Replacement chairs were discussed, and the idea was put out that we should look into replacing the broken ones

• Church Council voted to bring to the voters provisional calls for Aaron and Stephen for 5th grade and principal at the October voters meeting.

The boilers (heat for the classrooms) will be turned on on Monday morning.

It has been reported that some classroom windows have been left open after school. As a reminder, please close and lock all windows at the end of the day.

Our Professional Development is on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, October 25 Bellin Health will be conducting its vision screening on our 4K, 5K, 1st, 3rd, & 5th grade students. Screening will take place in the meeting room from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

SOAR

*On the 24th, we will discuss the reflection questions from Ch.1 & 2 in Habits of Highly Effective Teachers.

*PBIS will be all together in the gym on Wednesday, the 25th. The details of the activity will be on slides 24 and 25 of the Whole School PBIS Plan by Monday morning.

BOTR Update

• The emergency door to the playground should be completed by October 28.

• The slab for the dumpster enclosure should be poured by October 28.

• It is now anticipated that the building will be weathertight by the end of October

Hourly Staff - As a reminder, your first Bi-Monthly Pay period begins on October 15

Board of Christian Education Meeting Items

• Approved PTO request to install and fund 2 sliding windows in the meeting room.

• Reviewed for positions, After School Childcare Director, Building Custodian, Director of Technology, and Early Childhood Director

• Choice School Compliance Laws were reviewed

• Call meetings for the Principal and 5th-grade teachers were discussed. Aaron and I currently hold provisional calls, which must be renewed annually.

• Harvest strategy was discussed

• School marketing was discussed

Zandalee is working on creating a separate Internal Use Google Calendar and will be working on moving items from the school calendar that are not meant for public use to this calendar. You should have received an invitation to add this to your Google Calendars. Please do so.

Our First WELSSA Self-Study meeting will occur on October 16 at 5:30 PM.

Our Faculty Business Meeting is on Tuesday.

On Saturday, a team will be in the building to pull all the air conditioning units.
