Weekly Update for May 22, 2023

God's Blessings on your week!

All Staff
This will be our last weekly update for the 2022-2023 school year. I hope you take a moment to think about some of the highlights we got to be a part of this year. For me, here are a few...
  • Starting every morning with my fellow believers in the Word
  • Getting to know each of you and all of our kids a little better
  • A baptism at our Chapel service
  • Meeting with the parents, even in difficult situations, and the wonderful productive outcomes of those meetings
One of our neighbors contacted Art about cars parking across the street from the school blocking driveways. I don't think any of our staff park there, but I wanted to pass along the message. If you do park over there, please be careful not to block driveways.

Here are four things to consider doing in our last week from a blog post by Blueprint Schools.
  1. Reflect: Warren Bennis, author of On Becoming a Leader, understood the value of reflection: “There are lessons in everything, and if you are fully deployed, you will learn most of them. Experiences aren’t truly yours until you think about them, analyze them, examine them, question them, reflect on them, and finally understand them.” The end of the school year is a great time to conduct parent surveys, student surveys, and staff surveys.
  2. Celebrate: God gives us opportunities to enjoy His blessings, and the end of a school year is one of those times. You and your ministry team have worked hard to help students grow spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. Take time to celebrate this year’s victories with your parents, students, and each other.
  3. Renew: In Lead: 12 Gospel Principles for Leadership in the Church, Paul Tripp writes about the dangers of “achievement idolatry”. When we ignore the God-given limits of time and energy, it creates an unhealthy ratio of ministry to personal/family time. This will eventually take its toll in the form of stress, anxiety, unhealthy relationships, or self-medication. The end of the school year is best followed by an intentional detachment from your school ministry.
  4. Double Down: The best time for investing in your spiritual, emotional, and physical health was yesterday. Then the next best time is today. Establish healthy habits and become self-disciplined now so that your summer months are more enjoyable and productive.

The plan is to place prayer stones in the construction area on Wednesday, May 10 during our BASIC time. More details to come.

There was a problem with the furnace over the weekend. Art has shut all the furnaces/boilers off now. When I checked the building and closed the windows at 8:30 PM. It was still warm. Plan to open your window as soon as possible tomorrow.
