Weekly Update for November 18, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!
The Church Council met this week and set the date for the 5th grade call. That meeting will be December 5th at 7:30 PM.

Blue Sky is trying a different solution to hold the playground equipment in place. They have epoxied a couple of piece and will be observing the results. If that works will look to implement it on a larger scale.

New paper towel and toilet tissue dispensers have been ordered. We will begin installing them when they arrive, with the goal of having the most widely used bathrooms replaced by the end of Christmas Break. Other bathrooms will be replaced as we run out of stock of our current supplies.

We have agreed in principle to have the Healthy Choices program present to 5-8 grade students on February 2-3. More specifics will be available in the future.

We are seeing an uptick in enrollment interest for 2023-2024. Perhaps this is normal for all of you, but it was a bit surprising for me. This will mean that we will have tours being conducted as these families attempt to learn more about our church and school.

Weekly Update for November 11, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!
The Board of Christian Education met this week and discussed a number of items:
  • Brian Zweig will head up a Student Handbook Committee with assistance from Joe Woldt. This committee will begin meeting in January and include faculty and parents.
  • The Board Pre-Approved the use of funds for a GaGa Ball Pit for the new play space. PTO will still have to meet and discuss this request.
  • A decision to move forward with San A Care for dispensers was made with funding to be determined after the PTO meeting.
  • 2023-2024 School Calendar was reviewed and a few edits made based on teacher recommendations.  BOCE unanimously approved the 2023-2024 school calendar with edits recommended by the teaching staff.  The graduation service was moved to the Sunday before the last day of school and the first quarter was reduced by one week to allow more time for the staff to complete report cards and written assessments for each student in preparation for parent/teacher conferences.  A third parent/teacher conference date was added.
  • FVWAL Basketball Realignment Proposal reviewed.  BOCE members will review between now and the December meeting and provide any feedback to Mr. Jammer to take back to the FVWAL committee.
Please continue to email me with building concerns, I will continue to send them along to Art who will be our primary contact for all building related concerns. Please email me any concerns you have either with the new construction or existing building structure.

Weekly Update for November 4, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!

Steve Fabry was able to get the new drinking fountain/bottle filler installed on the first floor. We give thanks to God for members like him who are willing to give their time and talents to our school.

The playground move is almost complete. The weather today has caused a delay in their ability to finish it. A temporary fence should be in place by the end of the day on Tuesday. all of that being said, it will not be ready for use on Monday. I will be in contact with the construction crew again on Monday, but would anticipate that we will not be able to use this space until Wednesday. Please plan accordingly. I will be discussing some GaGa Ball Pit ideas with the Board of Christian Education and PTO over the next few weeks. I would like to see us get a plan for this in place by the end of November. There are options to be reviewed, including a prefabricated or DIY approach. Your feedback is always appreciated.

Here are a couple of other miscellaneous updates related to Built on the Rock:
  • Gauthier is planning on finish the grade on the driveway this week but we do not think the concrete is going to get poured this year.  The concrete sub is extremely backed up and I was told that the city has an ordinance that does not allow concrete to be poured in the right a way after November 1st.
  • The fence by the old playground will probably not get removed until next spring, but can if there is a major concern, this can be reviewed.
  • They are not going to do any more work with the area around the parsonage until after the new gas line is complete which should be by 11/15.
We are getting closer on a decision around Paper Towel and Toilet Tissue Dispensers. Here is the latest information. I received new information form San A Care which has me leaning in that direction at this time.

The network cabling contractor that reviewed our building needs over the last few weeks has backed out of our project. We are now working with a contractor who gave a bid back in May of 2021. He will be in the building from 11:45 - 1:45 on Friday, November 11 to reevaluate and rebid the project.
