Weekly Update for October 28, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!

During the playground move, the construction crew discovered a gas line that they needed to work around. They are not working on Monday, and will resume work on Tuesday. At this point, I have been informed that the playground will not be ready for use until Friday, November 4. Unfortunately, due to the fact that they are in progress, we will need to hold indoor recess this week.

The drinking fountain was not able to be replaced last week. Steve Fabry will be looking to replace it this week, but this may be delayed longer.

Going forward, a combination of Mr. Brennan, Mrs. Revell, Mrs. Rivers and Mr. Miller will be covering the 5-8 grade recess (11:55 - 12:15 - M, T, Th, F). This will allow Mr. Jammer to properly prepare for 5th and 6th grade science lessons.

I will be collaborating with the PTO to move forward with a Donuts with Dad (January) and Muffins with Mom (February). More details will be available in December.

Weekly Update for October 21, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!

On October 17th, we called 3 teachers to join our St. Paul team. Please keep them and their current ministry in your prayers as they deliberate their call to serve at St. Paul

On October 19th we found out that our Built on the Rock project was taking a step forward. The goal is to move the playground October 26-28, weather permitting. At this time, everyone has asked that we we move the existing equipment as is, since it will not be possible to move the smaller equipment piece to the narrow space on the northeast side of the new playground. Based on the space, if we locate the existing equipment on the east side of the new playground area we should still have room for a Gaga Ball Pit on the east end. I am currently working on a drawing and should have it available in my office on Monday afternoon.

There will also be work to update the drinking fountain on October 27-28 on the 1st floor of our building to now include a water bottle filler.

Weekly Update for October 14, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!

The first quarter has come to a close. It is hard to believe that we are almost 1/4 through the school year. It has certainly been a wonderful learning experience for me and I am so grateful to have a staff like you to work with.

On Tuesday, October 11 we had the Board of Christian Education meeting. At that meeting we reviewed some of the existing policy language and will be looking to update the Policy manual over the next year. We had the first reading of the 2023-2024 calendar, with the idea that we would solicit feedback and look to approve the 2023-2024 calendar at the November meeting. School homework was discussed and it was agreed that we should encourage parents to speak with teachers when and if they have homework concerns.

We had the first meeting of the Communications Committee on Thursday, October 13. At that meeting, we determined that our purpose would be to coordinate communications coming from the various groups within St. Paul. More to come on this as the work continues.

There will be a Church Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 18. If there is something specific you would like me to bring to the Church Council, please let me know.

Things continue to proceed slowly with Built on the Rock. Last week, we learned that our building permit was approved and that means that we are now in the process of scheduling subcontractors to complete fall work.

Weekly Update for October 7, 2022

God's Richest Blessings on your week!

Thank you everyone for your work to make Grandparents Day special for all our families. It was a wonderful turnout and went very well. All the grandparents I spoke with, spoke very highly of the organization, planning and execution. I thank God for the unique gifts and talents He has given to all of you to help carry out His work here on earth.

We had a Built on the Rock meeting this past week and I received an email today with an update on our building project. We now have all permits to begin cutting in the driveways and the goal is to move the playground during the last week of October.

I have begun work on the 2023-2024 School Calendar and will present it to the BOCE on Tuesday for review. I would like to see this approved in November, so parents have it and can make plans as needed. It is a very rough draft at this time, so feedback is appreciated. FVL has a draft calendar out as well. Three areas that we may want to consider:
  • Quarter 1 & 2 - Not knowing this history, I am proposing extending Q1 by 5 days and shortening Q2 by 5 days. Just a proposal.
  • Parent Consultations - November 2 & 7?, Should we have them in spring?
  • Graduation Service - Should we hold it on the Sunday prior to remind our congregation of the investment they make annually on behalf of our students?
There will be a BOCE meeting on Tuesday, October 11. If there is something specific you would like me to bring to the Board, please let me know.

Picture retake day will be Thursday, October 13. We will be taking a staff picture in the Sanctuary at 7:30. All staff members of the school are invited to join us for this picture.
