Update for June 24, 2022

God's richest blessings on your week!

I am sending this update to the staff, if this is too many or the wrong group, please let me know.

The Summer Eagle is close to being finalized.

The Church Council met this week:
  • A motion was passed to continue moving the 5th grade call forward to the congregation
I have two updates regarding Summer Cleaning. The carpets should be closed to being completed as the cleaner was working in the classrooms on Thursday. You should be able to fully access your classrooms next week. As has been discussed, we will be reaching out to families to sign up for summer cleaning. Please let me know if I missed anything.

School Supply Lists are ready for printing. Thank you everyone for your work on this.

Updates have been made to the Faculty Handbook and the School Handbook. There are still a few questions about the School Handbook that need to be resolved and I would really appreciate another set of eyes on the Faculty Handbook.

Please bring any Saxon Math materials to the fellowship hall. I placed signs on the northernmost tables. You may place your materials on those tables and we will work to inventory them and potentially resell them.

I spoke with Melanie Giddings this week and she shared a really nice parent letter regarding enVision math. I intend to share this in the Summer Eagle. She also shared a document outlining the curriculum cycles that I may be including in the Faculty Handbook, pending a conversation with the Board of Christian Education.

Fonda and I completed a site security assessment with Rick Meves on Thursday. We will be reviewing those findings to determine next steps in ensuring the safety of our staff and students.

We will be ordering T-Shirts from Quali T for all staff at St. Paul to wear on the first day of school. I will have a sign up available next week and a couple of shirts for sizing purposes should be here soon. The shirt will feature the St. Paul Logo on the front and the FVL theme for the year on the back. If they get here early enough, maybe we can wear them for registration.

Upcoming Dates
June 26 - Pastor Enstad's Installation
July 4 - Celebrate Your Freedom at St. Paul (4-5:30, service to follow)
July 6 - Summer Eagle due To Lisa
July 15 - Home visit folders assembled

June 10, 2022 Updates

God's richest blessings on your week.

I wanted to provide a couple of updates on this past week and point out a few highlights for the weeks ahead.

I pray that you had productive learning opportunities this past week at FVL. Your dedication to continuing to hone your skills is appreciated.

Hope Loescher had an opportunity to visit our church and school as well as some staff on Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who was able to stop in and say hello. During our brief meeting we used this agenda to guide our discussion. If I missed anything, please let me know. I would like to especially thank Gretchen for her willingness to come and serve as tour guide for our building and curriculum.

If you have not had the opportunity yet, please take a few moments to update the Who's In/Who's Out document. This will allow us to select dates for training in SAFER and First Aid.

Upcoming Dates (my apologies if I miss some)
June 11 - Volunteers still needed
June 12 - Walkley Family Moving Day
June 21 - Enstad Family Moving Day (Volunteers Needed)
June 26 - Pastor Enstad's Installation
July 6 - Summer Eagle due To Lisa (My hope is to have a template started and shared by June 21)

June 17, 2022 Updates

God's richest blessings on your week!

I am sending this update to the staff, if this is too many or the wrong group, please let me know.

The Summer Eagle is ready for review and revisions as needed. Lisa and I went back in the archives and I pulled what I could from previous editions. Our hope is to get an electronic version out by July 8. I know some of the information from the principal needs updating and correction, it will not bother me if someone more knowledgeable makes corrections. It looked like some teachers included information in the past, so I included a spot if you want to add something. Please remember to keep it brief as we want this document to remain under 2 pages. :)

The Board of Christian Education met this week. Here are few highlights from that meeting:
  • Delayed ratification of handbooks to allow for updating at the beginning of July
  • Approved a motion to split the combined 5th & 6th grade classroom and call a 5th grade teacher for the 2023-2024 school year to be taken to the Church Council for approval then the July Voter’s meeting for approval.  Assistant Athletic Director duties will be part of the 5th grade call.
I spoke with Art and Lisa about summer cleaning. Most floors, classroom and hallway, will be cleaned by the end of next week. The hallway by the gym may not be cleaned until after Vacation Bible School. This is still under consideration.

Gretchen shared the Extended Learning schedule. It is so exciting to see the ways we are meeting the individual needs of every student at St. Paul.

Pastor Zabell and I discussed morning devotions this week and I am happy to say that I will be taking this off your plate for next year. We believe that it is one place the principal can provide a small bit of relief to the staff. If you have concerns about this change, please let me know. The morning outside duty schedule will not change at this time.

SAFER and First Aid training are confirmed for August 10. All teachers and office staff should be sure to plan to be at St. Paul for that day. I wonder if it is possible for us to order subs or pizza or something for lunch?

Again, I apologize if I missed something important, I appreciate your grace and patience as I get my feet underneath me.
